All classes are at Wauwatosa Hart Park Senior Center unless otherwise stated.

Prices are for one session unless otherwise stated. Sessions usually run 17 weeks.

 Ballroom Dance: Geri Sawyer will teach fox trot –tango- the jitterbug, etc. OFF FOR SUMMER!

                Thursday at 1:35pm      Member $40.00   Guests $57.00

*Bocce Ball: Italian fun for all! Join the group!

*Contemporary Book Discussion: The chosen book will emphasize issues that sustain discussion.  

Leader; Margaret McGowan, Call for book title!  3rd Thursday of the Month 12: 15 pm. No Discussion in June,      July or August, have a wonderful summer and see you in September.  

*Card Playing: Sheepshead - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from 12 to 4:00pm

               (Free to members & nutrition site participants; Guest $1)

                Bridge - Thursdays at 12:15pm (Free to members & nutrition site participants; Guest $1)

Cooking with Barb:  1st   Thursday of the Month @ 1:00pm: Come Join the Fun: A variety of menus-

                Cost $4.00 for Members - $6.00 for Guests        Maximum people is 12.

*Dart BallMonday – 1:00pm   Social League - Get the point? Practice at 12:30 Come one and all!

French: Friday, 10:00 am “Oh-la-la” $18 for members, $28 for non-members for 17 week seesion

Fitness Classes: (see activity fee schedule unless otherwise indicated)

                20-20-20: A class with it all!  20 minutes of aerobics, 20 minutes of stretching & 20 minutes of strengthening.

Wednesday – 1:00pm

Aerobics: This program focuses on improving cardio-respiratory endurance, muscular conditioning and flexibility. It involves low impact exercise that will provide a fun and friendly environment  

Monday/Wednesday/Friday - 9:00am                 

Morning Mix This program is designed for those who find our Aerobic Classes too strenuous. The focus will be on cardio-vascular improvement, flexibility & muscle conditioning. Have fun & get fit!  Monday- 10:15 and  

Tuesday/Thursday - 9:00am 

Muscle Conditioning: This class will instruct participants on safe and effective strength techniques, while using resistance to develop and maintain muscular strength and endurance.  Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday - 10:00am

Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program:  (Formally PACE) Friday’s class is taught by Monica Erb Meyer.  Tuesday’s class is for beginners. This program provides individuals with stretching & strengthening exercise from head to toe! Fee: $12 for people over 62, $20 for guests & those under 62: Tuesday @ 12:30  &  Friday @ 12:30    $6.00 for recommended exercise book

Yoga: This program teaches principles of basic yoga postures that will stretch & strengthen your body while relaxing your mind.    Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday - 8:30am    

            Qi Gong: Learn what Qi Gong; an ancient oriental fitness program can do for you! Taught by John Burns

            $40 for members, $57 guests for 17 classes      Wednesday - 10:45am    

Advanced Tai Chi: Learn the benefits, principles and practice of Tai Chi. Cost $40.00 for 17 Classes for Members - Cost for Guests $57.00   Limited 25 people   Wednesday - 11:30pm         

Beginning Tai Chi/Self Defense:  Half of the Class is Beginning Tai Chi and the Second Half is a program of Self Defense. Cost $29 for members – Guest fee is $42 for 13 wks on every Thursday but the 1st Thursday of the Month - 12:30pm

Off-Site YMCA Fitness Options: You can register at the YMCA for all these programs

Water Exercise Classes: 45 minute water exercise class that takes advantage of   water to condition & tone the upper

& lower body 12 week class.  Members only: ($19 for 1 day) Tuesday /Thursday—1:00 pm & 2:00 pm. classes.

No Classes June 16 thru September 12.

Lap Lane Swimming    Open Swim 12:30 to 3:30pm Monday thru Friday. One lane is always available.

Cost at the WS is $38.00 for12 weeks

Commit to be Fit Program: This is a 12 week program designed to reintroduce fitness to people who haven’t    exercised in awhile. Free to members of Hart Park Senior Center only!

* Music from the Hart: Join this delightful group each Thursday at 10:00am. Play music with friends.

*Senior Information & Assistance: Milwaukee County Department on Aging Senior Services with Wendy Sager—

*Legal Aid Services: Call 414-471-8495 for an appointment on 1st Tuesday of the Month, 12:30 - 2:30pm

*Mah Jongg: Learn the secrets of this ancient Oriental game. Marcia Shapiro-mentor   Wednesday - 12:15pm

*Morning Movies: Especially for the Nutrition Site crowd! Enjoy oldies but goodies! 1st Tuesday of the month – 9:00am

*Movie Club: Come, relax and watch a movie with us! We’re showing oldies, new releases and everything

             between. Popcorn is on us! Free to members! 4th Wednesday & Thursday of each month – 12:30pm

Play Reading: A true play reading class!   It’s fun for everyone. No experience necessary! OFF UNTIL SEPTEMBER!

2nd and 4th Thursday - 12:30pm Cost is $10.00 per year for Members 

*Poetry Circle: This group will introduce you to timeless poetry & poets. Discussions are led by Shirley Holzer Jeffery.

                Friday - 10 am  

*Scrabble: Join your Hart Park friends for a game of Scrabble! Wednesday – 9:30am

Senior Meal Program sponsored by Milwaukee County Department of Aging Register for a free Diner’s

Card. Reservations for the meal is needed 24 hour in advance. You must be 60 years of age or older. We ask for a $2.00 contribution. Call 257-3534 for details and reservations. Menus are published in The Food Section of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel & Wauwatosa News Times. We serve promptly at 11:30am.

Skilled Arts & Crafts:               

Crafter’s Corner: We will cover a variety of crafts from silk dyeing to glass/tile painting. Costs will depend on the number of interested participants and the project; (usually $2-$10)      Thursday – 8:45am

*Hart Park Needlers:  Specializing in knitting & crochet, but all needlers are welcome. 1st & 3rd Monday: 12:00pm

*Finish It: Come finish your project and visit with your friends.

*Stained Glass:    Bill Pomes will help you create wonderful stained glass projects. Material costs vary.

Thursday – 10:15am

          Wauwatosa Artist’s Workshop: This is for experienced artists. You must jury to join. 2nd, 3rd & 4th Monday: 7pm                Watercolor Workshop: Join this informal group of painters.  Joyce Eesley will teach on the 2nd and 4th Monday.

               Cost $12.00.  Other weeks will be self instructed. This class is not for beginners.  Monday   9:00am

Beginning Watercolor: Learn basic use of color and techniques in watercolor. Joyce Eesley will guide you on the 2nd & 4th Monday   12:30 - 2:00pm     Cost: $12 for 8 classes. Limited to 12   Beginning watercolor artists only  

Spanish Classes: Focus on vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar-With Lorna Peterson Wednesday Cost; $18.00 for

Members $28.00 for non-members – Intermediate Beg. Spanish: 9:00am -Advanced Beginners: 10:00am – Beginning Spanish: 11:00am

Travel Club: This discussion group will travel through the eyes of experienced travelers. Day Trips & tours are being      planned as well as discussions on foreign lands & customs. There will be a slight charge at the door for some                 programs.   Trip costs do vary. Call for information or see our newsletter! 

*Wauwatosa Health Clinic: Blood pressure check, medical information & health questions answered. Sponsored by the  

                     Wauwatosa Health Department. 1st Tuesday of the month – 9:30-11:00am – OFF FOR JULY & AUGUST

Writers Workshop: Find your writing “voice” in an experimental workshop/class roundtable, discussion group of writers.

                Put your memories and thoughts on paper.   Carol Ortmann will lead the class.  Cost per session $15.00 -Members

Membership Information:

Participation in the Senior Center’s activities or programs requires an annual membership. Annual costs:

                                Wauwatosa Residents 50-61years of age: $18/year

                                Wauwatosa Residents 62 years or older: $12/year

                                Non-Wauwatosa Residents of any age: $25/year

Program Fee Information:        

Programs usually run for 17 wks, beginning April 28, 2008 unless otherwise stated, the fees are as follows;

            Age 50-61                                                                 Age 62- & older

                Classes 1 time a week:  $24.00/program                     Classes 1 time a week: $12.00 program
